A man was sentenced to 60 years in prison after a Hays County jury convicted him Thursday in the 1986 kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl. Police say Reynaldo Zamora, 60, abducted two girls Dec. 20, 1986 and drove them around the Buda and Kyle area, buying them food and alcohol at area gas stations.

The main southbound lanes on Interstate 35 at Yarrington Road just north of San Marcos will be closed for bridge construction 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, according to a Hays County official. Southbound traffic on Interstate 35 will be diverted to the access road at the Yarrington Road exit and get back on Interstate 35 south of the overpass.

Data from the Texas Department of Transportation show the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and Highway 123 to be the most dangerous in San Marcos. From January 2014 to February, the intersection was the site of 82 total crashes, including two fatal accidents and eight with incapacitating injuries, according to TxDOT data.

Police said Jonathan Russell works at the La Quinta in San Marcos. He was last seen near the hotel Thursday morning, riding his bike in West access road of the 1600 block of Interstate 35. He was wearing a burnt orange sweatshirt, a green T-shirt and jeans.

A man who officials say fashioned a pen into a weapon and stabbed an inmate in the Lavaca County jail was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday. In one case, Hammer was sentenced to two years in prison for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information of an elderly person, a third-degree felony.

The owner of the Tuttle Lumber Company has decided to close the store after more than 60 years of operation. Don Gilbreath, owner, said in an interview with Impact News he lost his "passion" for the store during the recession.
